The photomontage portrait is a fabulous opportunity for the subject to be cast into a décor they’ve always dreamed of. This technique allows both photographer and model to break free of the limits of the studio, and to unleash the creative process.
It’s an exercise in which the photographer must master the art of both studio portrait photography and photomontage.
As with any good portrait, it is essential to establish a real relationship with the subject being photographed, because that is where the inspiration will come from and where the idea of the final image will appear. It is thanks to this complicity that the photographer will be able to mentally pre-construct the photomontage.
